About South Etobicoke - Toronto's Best Kept Secret for Waterfront Living!

South Etobicoke -- also known as "The Lakeshore" or the electoral district of "Etobicoke-Lakeshore" -- is comprised of the Town of Mimico, the Town of New Toronto, the Village of Long Branch, and two smaller neighbourhoods -- Alderwood and Humber Bay Shores.

As part of the City of Toronto, the area is designated as Ward 6 and is also Real Estate District W6 within the Toronto Real Estate Board.

Ward 6 is situated in south-west Toronto and is bound by Etobicoke Creek to the west, the Gardner Expressway to the north and Lake Ontario to the south. It is 18 square kilometres in size. It is home to 56,620 people and consists of 26,240 households according to the 2006 census.

We live and work in South Etobicoke and as real estate agents, we are always telling people that the area is Toronto's "best kept secret." Homes and condos in this area are still affordable, we can easily boast some of the most spectacular lake front properties and parkland in Toronto, and yet we are located within close proximity to all that downtown Toronto has to offer.

Currently, the area is going through some exciting rejuvenation, and it won't be long before property values are as high as many other areas of Toronto. Trendy coffee shops and new businesses are slowly entering the area, and condo developers see the obvious potential and are creating in-fill projects and highrise lakefront condos.
